Friday, November 6, 2026, 4:00–5:30 PM

AIB Insights, the Academy of International Business journal of short, topical, and thought-provoking articles for IB scholars, practitioners, policy makers, and educators, will hold a Paper Development Workshop (PDW) at AIB-SE 2026, organized by Professor William Newburry (Florida International University). If your research can be communicated effectively in a short article (approximately 2,500 words) that addresses theoretical, empirical, practical, or pedagogical issues with an emphasis on applied insights, this workshop is for you.

Writing for AIB Insights requires a different approach from journals such as JIBS or JIBP. The PDW gives scholars developmental feedback on ideas and manuscripts they are considering for submission to the journal. Original submissions and ideas from researchers at all levels of experience are welcome.

How the workshop is structured. The PDW has two parts. Part I takes place in person at AIB-SE on Friday, November 6: a 45-minute overview of AIB Insights, with an emphasis on writing for the journal (open to all conference attendees, subject to room capacity), followed by 45 minutes of feedback on the idea papers submitted in advance. Part II is a virtual PDW: participants in the AIB-SE session will be invited to an online workshop where they receive additional feedback on a full manuscript that incorporates the initial feedback. Details of Part II will be discussed at AIB-SE.

How to submit a paper idea. Send a short manuscript (maximum 1,000 words) presenting an idea for a potential AIB Insights submission to Bill Newburry at newburry@fiu.edu, with “AIB-SE PDW Submission” in the subject line. The submission deadline is October 15, 2026. Please consult the AIB Insights For Authors page when preparing your submission.

If your submission is accepted. By submitting a manuscript, you commit that at least one of the idea paper’s authors will participate in the PDW if it is accepted. Participants must be registered for AIB-SE 2026 to attend the AIB Insights PDW.

Session times and rooms are listed in the 2026 Conference Program (PDF). Standard registration ends October 9, 2026.
