Dr. Stewart Miller, AIB-SE 2020–2021 Immediate Past Chapter Chair
Dr. Stewart Miller is a professor of management in the Department of Management at The University of Texas at San Antonio. He joined the UTSA faculty in 2007. He has served as the chair of the Department of Management. He has held faculty appointments as an assistant professor at The University of Texas-Austin and Michigan State University. His Ph.D. is from Indiana University, and his undergraduate and master’s degrees are from Northwestern University. He was a local arrangements co-chair for the 2011 Academy of Management annual meeting in San Antonio. Dr. Miller has teaching and research interests in international strategy, liability of foreignness, international strategic alliances, internationalization and emerging markets. He has published in the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Organization Science, Global Strategy Journal, Management International Review and Long-Range Planning, among others. He is a member of the editorial review board of the Journal of International Business Studies and Global Strategy.
Dr. Daekwan Kim, AIB-SE 2021 Conference Co-Chair
Daekwan Kim (Ph.D.-Michigan State) is Professor of Marketing and International Business in the College of Business at Florida State University. His research interests include the impact of IT on firm marketing strategies and interfirm relationships, marketing/international marketing strategies, and international buyer–seller relationships. His research has appeared in the Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, Decision Sciences Journal, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Marketing, Journal of World Business, Management International Review, International Marketing Review, and other journals. He is currently an associate editor of Decision Sciences Journal and serves on the editorial boards of Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Marketing, and Thunderbird International Business Review.
Dr. Amit Arora, AIB-SE 2021 Academic Program Co-Chair
Amit Arora, Ph.D. is Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management in the School of Business and Public Administration at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management and Co-Director of Nicholas J. Giuffre Center for Supply Chain Management at Bloomsburg University (BU). Prior to joining BU, he was an Assistant Professor and Director of Global Logistics & International Business Education and Research Center at Savannah State University. He has been serving as a Track Chair for AIB-SE since 2015. Amit graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Georgia Southern University in 2014. He is a certified SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) scholar by the Supply Chain Council. He teaches courses in Transportation, Logistics, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Innovation, Quality, Strategic Management, and Business Research. His current research interests are sustainability strategies in supply chain management, supply chain collaboration, and experiential innovative gaming exercises for teaching. He has co-authored articles in logistics, marketing, international business, and pedagogical journals. He has published in the International Journal of Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal, Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education, and Journal of Promotion Management, among others. Amit serves as Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and collaborator for various funded research grants from the National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and VentureWell. He has extensive industry experience, having worked in the auto industry in India for about 10 years.
Dr. Mohamad (Mo) Sepehri, Dean, School of Business and Public Administration, University of the District of Columbia, AIB-SE 2020 Chapter Treasurer
Mo Sepehri has a double Ph.D. from Indiana University, Bloomington, and has over 30 years of experience in market analysis and research. Prior to his graduate education, Mo served at several international corporations as the Director of Marketing, Director of the International Division, and the Assistant General Manager (VP level). He is a consultant and research analyst to business corporations, and has served as expert advisor and consultant to a number of city, county, and state governments in the areas of consumer research, transportation, market feasibility, economic impact and the “Blue Laws”.
Mo has written numerous scholarly works that have been published in professional publications. The ranges of topics include information technology and global business, leadership for the twenty first century, curriculum studies, behavioral and consumer market studies, and securities and exchange market analyses. He has been acknowledged in the Journal of Operations Management as an “outstanding contributor” on several occasions. Mo is a member of China Business Education Council in Jacksonville and is a board member/executive officer of the Academy of International Business–Southeast (USA) and he currently serves as the treasurer. He also serves on the Executive Board of the International Visitor Corps in Jacksonville and he has the designation of Citizen Diplomat by the U.S. Department of State.
Dr. Alexander Assouad, AIB-SE 2020 X-Culture Symposium Liaison
Dr. Assouad has been teaching, researching and serving in the academic world for over 7 years. Dr. Assouad believes that all three pillars of advanced learning work synergistically together, and that being active in each arena is imperative, this is reflected in Dr. Assouad’s diverse research and community engagements.
First from a research perspective, Dr. Assouad’s focus is on the institutional environment, specifically in the emerging market context. In conjunction, Dr. Assouad is then able to share new and relevant research from this stream, teaching both strategic management and international business. Finally, in terms of service, Dr. Assouad presently holds various positions amongst a myriad of not-for profit institutions. First, the Global Action Platform, a think tank focused on the innovation economy, second, X-Culture, as an avid advisory board member, professor and evangelist, and finally, Dr. Assouad has served as track and session chairs for AIBSE for the last 3 years, whilst having also served as a reviewer for both AIB and AIBSE for the last 6 years.
